The Power of Words

The Shingon school of Japanese Buddhism literally is the "Mantra School.”  It follows the     teachings of Kukai on the possibility of using sounds themselves to change our basic understanding of reality. 

     Sitting in the garden

     of Sambo-in

     with its excess

     of eight hundred stones

     Louise responds

     "it would be a lovely garden

     on a rainy day"

     five minutes later

     dark clouds come in

     two rolls of thunder

     and it rains
